Filmin’Tahiti was created to provide services to film, commercial and TV productions attracted by the natural beauties and the culture of the five archipelagoes and the 118 islands which make French Polynesia « unique ».

The variety of landscapes is exceptional: cold and rugged in the Austral islands, pristine lagoons and pink sand beaches in the Tuamotu atolls, spectacular cliffs and archeological sites in the Marquesas archipelago, waterfalls and lush tropical vegetation in the Society islands. The clarity and limpidity of the sea, the richness of the underwater fauna and the quality of the waves are unmatched worldwide for underwater filming.

As for climate conditions, French Polynesia is by far the least prone to weather hazards in the Pacific Ocean. French Polynesia is a safe haven for productions, it is the most developed country in this area of the world and it offers the best infrastructures around with security, transportation and housing standards of international level and quality.

This vast and diverse territory has a long and rich history with the making of images. It inspired writers such as Melville, Stevenson, James Norman Hall, as well as famous painters like Gauguin or Matisse. Great filmmakers like Murnau (Tabu) or Dino de Laurentis (Hurricane), were of course attracted. In their wake followed by Hollywood’s biggest actors such as Clark Gable, Marlon Brando, Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson or Warren Beatty. Since the early 20th century to this day, French Polynesia has enjoyed a strong relationship with the film industry and Filmin’ Tahiti intends to follow up with this heritage.
